trip to Bailu church - the window

every trip is just like a window for me, to open the door of history and escape from my mundane life. I'm not me, not the one suffers from my dreams at those moments, I could be one of the preachers, even a little girl who was praying to the God in my imaginations.
I'm a dust in the universe, I'm nothing and I'm everything.

trip to Bailu church - the weed could tell

could the weed tell the story that ever happened here?
were the preachers happy at that time? how could the preachers communicate with local people? in Chinese or French? did the local children learn French?
life should be very nice during that time.

who knows?

After the preachers got back to france, the church had been used as classrooms for local children for a few years before it's broken down.

It took the French preachers and the local people of Bailu more than 10 years to biuld up this church. Since 1905 there had had around 180 foreign preachers live in Bailu town before China was liberated in 1949. When the preachers knew the liberation army would come soon, they set fire to the church and left for France.

trip to Bailu church - on the road

Before we got to the Bailu church we found another new church on the road. It seems that many people in this little town are Christian, interesting.

The trip to Bailu church just began, the history would come to us again.

David, do you remember I ever told you a very old church near Chengdu, that's it. I've finally got time to be there Thu 5-Aug-2004 02:23
